NED Science Forum – 12 May 2026 – Realising the Vision of Preventative Health – Translating Genetic and Wearable Data

Realising the Vision of Preventative Health – Translating Genetic and Wearable Data
For preventative health to be realised in the UK, as set out in the NHS 10-year plan, it needs to put nutrition and lifestyle at its core.  What role does genetic and wearable data have to play in achieving the preventative health ambitions? Join us for presentation, debate and discussion on preventative health and how nutrition professionals are harnessing the power of genetics and wearable data to inform their science-based decision making and transforming lives.

The NED Science Forum includes:

Nutrigenomics
A keynote address from an industry leader Assistant Professor of Precision Nutrition, Yiannis Mavrommatis from the Lake Lucerne Institute. With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.

Wearable Data, including CGMs
A keynote address from an industry leader (tbc). With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.
Translating the science into meaningful, clinically relevant and evidence-based recommendations

The afternoon continues with a series of case reports, which demonstrate how genetic and wearable data is being used by Registered Nutritional Therapists in their clinics and how NHS primary care can benefit from collaboration with BANT members. Dawn Waldron, BANT Fellow, will present on the power of nutrigenetics in integrative cancer care. A further case report will be presented on the use of wearable data in the delivery of personalised nutrition recommendations (speaker TBC).

The event concludes with a presentation from NED Managing Editor, Clare Grundel, who will share the results of the BANT 2025 IBS impact study and plans for the future.

Speaker Profile: Registered Nutritionist | Award Winning Cancer Educator | Bestselling Substack Author | PG Cert, BSc(Hons) Dip ION, FBANT

Dawn Waldron has spent thirty ‘reclaimed’ years working to transform breast cancer outcomes – for herself and countless others. In 2025, she received the Yes to Life Holistic Cancer Care Innovator Award, recognising her pioneering work in holistic cancer care.

In 2023, after twenty years of clinical practice combined with teaching and speaking roles, she stepped back from consulting to share her experience with a wider audience of specialist cancer practitioners and the growing family of ‘expert patients’ looking to embrace longevity. Her message can be summed up in a sentence: Don’t let the complexity of cancer blind you to the simplicity of healing.

Dawn’s groundbreaking Fluxable theory emerges from an intricate exploration of human metabolism, focussed on the finely-balanced ebb and flow of our biochemistry, based in a cooperative understanding of mitochondrial, microbial and genetic regulation, and rooted in a vital appreciation of our relationship with nature. This concept creates a firm foundation for cancer prevention and recovery and powerfully underpins integrative oncology programs to support improved treatment outcomes.
