NED SCIENCE FORUM

Realising the Vision of Preventative Health – Translating Genetic and Wearable Data

For preventative health to be realised in the UK, as set out in the NHS 10-year plan, it needs to put nutrition and lifestyle at its core.  What role does genetic and wearable data have to play in achieving the preventative health ambitions? Join us for presentation, debate and discussion on preventative health and how nutrition professionals are harnessing the power of genetics and wearable data to inform their science-based decision making and transforming lives. The NED Science Forum includes:

Nutrigenomics

A keynote address from an industry leader Assistant Professor of Precision Nutrition, Yiannis Mavrommatis from the Lake Lucerne Institute. With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.

Wearable Data, including CGMs

A vision for the future for wearables and their role in preventative health (speaker tbc). With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.

Translating the science into meaningful, clinically relevant and evidence-based recommendations

The afternoon continues with a series of case reports, which demonstrate how genetic and wearable data is being used by Registered Nutritional Therapists in their clinics and how NHS primary care can benefit from collaboration with BANT members. Dawn Waldron, BANT Fellow, will present on the management of melatonin in metabolic approach to cancer, Natalie Louise Burrows, MBANT will talk about the role of CGMs in preventative health as a cardiometabolic nutrition specialist and Claire Sambolino, MBANT will provide insights into the power of data from other wearables and at-home devices (Whoop, Chronometer and KetoMojo) in creating and managing personalised nutrition recommendations. The event concludes with a presentation from NED Managing Editor, Clare Grundel, who will share the results of the BANT 2025 IBS impact study and plans for the future.
