The BANT team are devasted at her loss and send their heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and ION colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Heather was a well-deserving BANT Honorary Fellow who by her own words was \u2018an all-rounder\u2019 with knowledge in health, training, education and nutritional therapy, all of which she put to good use from the start of our profession over 29 years ago till her unexpected passing.<\/p>\n<p>Her passion for people, education and health was undiminished, and she continued her work with the same dedication and drive as always, despite teasing us with retirement. BANT is grateful for her recent attendance at the NED Science Forum where she proudly show-cased posters from recent ION graduates, and for the more intimate moments shared at this year\u2019s IPM congress, just a few short weeks ago. It was in those personal interactions that Heather\u2019s true qualities shone through.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being a Dean at <a class=\"ql-mention\" spellcheck=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/?highlightedUpdateUrn=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7485269968826146816&amp;highlightedUpdateType=REACTED_TO_YOUR_COMMENT&amp;origin=INAPP&amp;highlightedUpdateTrackingId=87pHFA6CQFqT3TmxpAYAqA%3D%3D&amp;showCommentBox=true#\" data-entity-urn=\"urn:li:fsd_company:1086181\" data-guid=\"1\" data-object-urn=\"urn:li:fsd_company:1086181\" data-original-text=\"ION - Institute for Optimum Nutrition\" data-test-ql-mention=\"true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ION &#8211; Institute for Optimum Nutrition<\/a>, Heather was a strong advocate of nutritional therapy and collaborated with BANT, NTEC and many other organisations to advance the professional recognition and reach of nutrition therapy.\u00a0Heather was involved in the setting of National Occupational Standards for nutritional therapy and the Nutritional Therapy Core Curriculum, both of which today set the foundation of our regulatory standards. She has supported hundreds (perhaps thousands) of students and graduates to enter the profession, championing each and every one of them, and has worked tirelessly with training providers and allied healthcare professionals to add nutrition to their skillset.<\/p>\n<p>Heather has left a legacy that will continue to positively impact our profession.
