Welcome to our first eNews issue of 2022, the year of BANT’s 25th anniversary!\u00a0 We have started the year with a busy renewals period during which we have welcomed new members and some returning members restarting their practices after being thrown off course by the pandemic, as well as many recent graduates upgrading to full membership; we hope that all of you will enjoy this issue and take the opportunity to find out more about what BANT does for its members and for the nutritional therapy profession as a whole. There is plenty in the pipeline for our 25th year, so keep an eye on your inbox and all of our other communication channels.<\/p>\n
This issue’s feature articles are very topical, looking at antioxidant supplementation for performance athletes – Winter Olympians and Paraolympians take note! and, post-COP 26, how we can factor food waste reduction and sustainability into our nutritional advice.<\/p>\n
We’d also like to give a special mention and thank you to Emma Hendricks who is leaving her voluntary position as Science and Education Director after 4 years, during which time she has made an invaluable contribution to BANT’s work and development.\u00a0 However, we are delighted that Emma will continue to be involved in the Science and Education workstream, together with Laura Falconer, developing a module on behaviour change, following their series of webinars within the BANT Webinar Programme 2020\/2021 . Luckily, a fabulous replacement has been found for Emma, in the person of Deborah Richards, who is highly experienced in the field of nutrition; see both the Science and Education and the Volunteer and Networks articles for an introduction to Deborah.<\/p>\n
