I started my clinic to help those who struggle with their skin, having experienced for myself the positive impact that nutrition and lifestyle changes can have on skin health – in my case skin rashes and candida caused by gut issues and an overactive immune system.

Alexandra: I’m a Nutritional Therapist and also have many years’ experience as a food and drink product developer. I recently had my first child and am just returning to work after maternity leave and am looking forward to getting back to supporting clients.

How long have you been running a network and why?
We inherited the BANT Herts group from Tracey Harper, Alison Sheldrick and Michelle Lake who set up the group 10 years ago and had built it into a successful group. They wanted to move on and we volunteered to run the group. We’ve all benefitted so much from it and we felt we could build on the great work done before us and help more NTs learn more about nutrition, functional medicine and the latest research and supplements which can help us practice at our best, support clients and build our network of fellow practitioners.

How many members does the network have, how do you meet and connect?
At the moment, we have around 100 members from all over Hertfordshire and North London. We meet every 3 months, currently via Zoom, and usually around 20 – 30 members attend each presentation. These are recorded so, members who can’t attend can still watch the presentation.

Looking ahead to 2022, we’re hoping to re-introduce some in-person meetings so that members can spend more time with each other, meet other NTs and form new friendships.

What do you use meetings for & what is upcoming?
Meetings are usually based around an informative presentation and Q&A, often from a supplement or testing company or from individuals who are sharing research or investigations they’ve been carrying out. For example, at our last meeting we were fortunate to have Ben Brown talking to us about viral resilience and metabolic health, timely information given that many of us are supporting clients recovering from COVID. We’ve also had presentations from Emma Beswick at Lifecode GX, Lorraine Nicolle, OptiBac, as well as talks on the menopause and post-viral fatigue.

Looking ahead, we’re hoping to increase the number of meetings we have so that we can include case study discussions and business development support.

If you’d like to join us, please do get in touch and we’ll invite you to upcoming sessions.
