About the toolkit<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

The GP & Primary Care Toolkit is designed to support BANT members in professionally engaging and communicating with their local GPs and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) with a view to seeking collaborative ways of working and patient referrals.\u00a0 It also aims to raise the profile of Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners within the wider NHS community by providing members with standardised BANT-branded tools and resources.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Registered Nutritional Therapists are regulated by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) that holds an Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) for the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). This means that BANT members who are CNHC registered are automatically PSA-accredited.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Accredited registers set the same<\/span> standards for unregulated health care practitioners as those in statutory regulated professions. <\/span><\/span>By using practitioners who are on a PSA-accredited Register, GPs and their patients can have confidence in the services provided by a Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

For practitioners, being accredited demonstrates commitment to high standards and public protection, which increases public confidence and ensures safer care for all.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

NEW 2025 Letter templates to Contact your client’s GP or Primary Care Network (PCN)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

These templates provide a standardised format for BANT member practitioners to effectively communicate with GPs and Healthcare professionals. The range of templates allows for different NT services and degrees of client complexity, starting with an initial introduction letter for members wishing to offer group work and moving to client-specific recommendations, test requests, and progress reports.<\/p>\r\n

Template 01<\/a> – a letter of introduction to offer your services to your local GP practice or PCN<\/p>\r\n

Template 02<\/a> – a ‘best practice’ letter template to send to all client’s GP’s to communicate a) the nutrition recommendations you have given and b) to express desire to collaborate in the interest of client safety (we recommend all practitioners integrate this into your practice).<\/p>\r\n

Template 03<\/a> – as above, plus an additional request for the GP to order tests on behalf of your client (their patient).<\/p>\r\n

Template 04<\/a> – Client progress report<\/p>\r\n

Template 05<\/a>\u00a0– a combination of letters 2 and 3 for use with complex clients where practitioners may need to involve the GP from the outset.<\/p>\r\n

A Guide to Who\u2019s who in a GP Surgery<\/a>\u00a0designed to improve your understanding of the structure of a typical practice including roles and referral routes.\u00a0It must be understood, however, that the structures of GP Practices do vary so please do not assume that your local practices will follow the same structure.<\/p>\r\n

Service Provision within the GP Surgery<\/a>\u00a0includes a diagram illustrating the typical processes for decision making around service provision and delivery within a GP surgery.<\/p>\r\n

NHS Open Space:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

NHS Open Space provides access to treatment and consulting rooms in England from NHS partners.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

As practitioners on an Accredited Register, CNHC registrants are able to hire these workspaces.<\/p>\r\n

You can register for a free account at\u00a0https:\/\/openspace.nhs.uk\/<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and will then be able to book rooms, paying for the type of room\u00a0and time you need.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
