In certain areas of healthcare, this requires an NT to undertake additional training and an application process where evidence of completed training is submitted for approval.<\/p>\n<p>BANT has updated the guidelines, training requirements and application processes for NTs to work in the healthcare areas listed in this section to support client safety and the profession as a whole<\/p>\n<p>The training and application requirements for each area will differ as will the practitioner eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p>An\u00a0 assessment process is in place for NTs wishing to <strong>Return to Practice<\/strong>\u00a0(after 2-3 years). el_id=&#8221;return-to-practice&#8221;][vc_column_inner el_class=&#8221;anchor_col&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1618397491357{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Return to Practice:<a id=\"\" class=\"hanbooktotop\" href=\"#top-section\"><i class=\"qode_icon_font_awesome fa fa-arrow-circle-up\"><\/i><span class=\"hanbooktotopspan\"> Top<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>BANT requires the completion of a Return to Practice (RTP) process for graduates from an NTEC accredited course who have not been in clinical practice for 2 years or more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ability to evaluate complex problems set in clinical environments, and the ability to rationalise case management taking into account a range of factors and values using an evidenced based approach to demonstrate competent, lawful, safe and effective autonomous practice.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Effectively conduct a series of a minimum three \u2018live\u2019 nutritional therapy consultations, both initial and follow-up.<\/li>\n<li>Critically analyse case history in response to the dynamic therapeutic encounter, including antecedence, mediators and triggers, timeline, dietary analysis, test results, and ability of the client to engage with recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>Critically evaluate case management and protocol (therapeutic relationship, diet, and nutraceuticals) within a Functional Medicine framework utilising an evidence-based approach.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate outcomes of nutritional therapy consultation, using an evidence informed approach, to formulate future plans and actions making appropriate adjustments to meet any changing needs while managing potential dissonance between expected and actual protocol outcomes for self and client.<\/li>\n<li>Critically reflect on own interactions with clients, supervisors and other healthcare professionals using clinical performance feedback to consolidate clinical judgement and performance.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate professional and ethical working practice in relation to clients, supervisors, other care providers and others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Return to Practice minimum knowledge requirements to meet learning outcomes<\/strong> <strong>include the following components. The combination of requirements a practitioner needs to complete is based on their individual circumstances and outlined in the table below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment via BANT for those who have been non-practising between 2-3 years:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Case Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The practitioner may choose two out of 5 case studies to complete. Each completed case study must demonstrate good understanding of the nutritional therapy consultation and therapeutic clinical encounter, taking into account the above-mentioned learning outcomes. Recommendations provided are evidence-informed and safe to support the client\u2019s wellbeing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CPD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide evidence of 30 hours of documented CPD for the previous year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Zone Modules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Practice Governance (PG) Module<\/strong> \u2013 BANT Learning Zone module covering GDPR and regulatory landscape. The module has 40 questions. Email confirmation provided upon completion of the module. (Est. 10 hours)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personalised Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine Module<\/strong> \u2013 BANT Learning Zone module consisting of 50 questions randomly selected out of 70. Email confirmation provided upon completion of the module. (Est. 10 hours)<\/li>\n<li><strong>4 x Functional Testing<\/strong> <strong>Modules<\/strong> &#8211; 4 topical tests introduced in context \u2013 BANT Learning Zone modules include <strong>Adrenal Stress Profile, Digestive Stool Analysis, Organic Acids Panel and Food Allergy\/Sensitivity (IgE and IgG4)<\/strong> Each module consists of approximately 20 questions. (Est. 35 hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Training Provider support for those who have been non-practising between 3-7 years:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The practitioner must be enrolled with one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/train-in-nutritional-therapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer opener\">participating Training Providers<\/a> for the Return to Practice process which will include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Latest science incorporated into clinical practice training. Bank details will be provided and assessment will not be started until the payment is received.<\/li>\n<li>Submit evidence of 30 hours of documented CPD for the past full year, January to December.<\/li>\n<li>Once you receive confirmation that your case study submissions were successful and your CPD appropriate you will be in a position to apply for Full Practising Membership.<\/li>\n<li>In order to apply for Full Practising Membership, you will need to register with the CNHC (unless you are exempt see <a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/membership-tcs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer opener\">point 6 of Membership T&amp;Cs<\/a>). Registration with the CNHC is done via BANT and you need to provide a copy of your <a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/professional-indemnity-insurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer opener\">Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate<\/a> and a completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/scgdm9rslcymiwz\/REFERENCE_FORM_FASTTRACK.pdf?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer opener\">CNHC Reference Form<\/a>. If you ever wish to \u2018untick\u2019 this box, please contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:info@bant.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">info@bant.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the BANT Practitioner Search under\u00a0<strong>Health Concerns<\/strong>\u00a0the public will see an information button next to\u00a0<strong>Cancer<\/strong>\u00a0with the following information:<\/p>\n<p><em>BANT Practitioners with enhanced training to work with clients with suspected cancer diagnosis or diagnosis of cancer. In addition to completing Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner qualification, practitioners have gained BANT recognised enhanced skills through post-qualification training and clinical practise to support clients with cancer. Practitioners use science-based nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to ensure safe practise and are registered on the PSA Accredited register.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You may include information in your practitioner profile and your website indicating that you have completed additional post-qualification training, recognised by BANT, to support clients with cancer. To establish clear expectations and ensure a positive experience for both you and your clients, it is advisable to clarify the types of cancer that you are qualified to work with from the onset; and the supportive, complimentary care that you can offer in conjunction with medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process \u2013 Cancer Health Concern Listing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 \u2013 You will be a Full Practising Member of BANT, have been in clinical practice minimum of 3 years after qualifying, with up-to-date practice details on your practitioner profile and your practitioner profile copy only talks about nutrition and lifestyle medicine practise, no other modalities.<\/p>\n<p>2 \u2013 You will have insurance to practise and be fully covered for any Civil Liability arising out of the practise of nutritional therapy, including public liability, product liability, professional liability, professional indemnity and libel or slander.<\/p>\n<p>3 \u2013\u00a0Submit the relevant portfolio of evidence following the steps in Option 1 or Option 2, outlined below. For Option 2, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/xbgqgazkynga65u\/BANT_PORTFOLIO_CANCER.docx?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Portfolio Template<\/a> is provided to complete this light portfolio process, including further details about the required evidence.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Option 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a) <strong>Complete <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.drninafullershavel.com\/course-for-nutrition-professionals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Systems Approach to Cancer\u00ae Programme for Nutrition Professionals<\/strong><\/a>, by Dr. Nina Fuller-Shavel.<br \/>\nThe Systems Approach to Cancer Programme (SATCP) is a 6-month online course designed to provide a practical grounding in the functional and integrative approach for delivering personalised nutrition and lifestyle support to people with cancer before, during and after treatment.<br \/>\n<strong>This NTEC certified course offers 30 hours of BANT-approved CPD and option for mentoring by Dr. Nina Fuller-Shavel after completion of the course.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>b) Proof of having reviewed the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/bant-professional-practice-handbook\/specific-conditions\/#cancer\">Cancer Guidelines<\/a> in the BANT Professional Practice Handbook<\/strong>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/members-area\/science-and-education\/#learning-zone\">the webinar by Carol Granger<\/a> about the BANT Professional Practice Guidelines for Working with Individuals with a Confirmed or Suspected Cancer Diagnosis &#8211; accessible via the <strong>BANT Learning Zone &gt; Access All Webinars &gt; BANT Professional Support.<\/strong>\u00a0This can be logged as 1 h of CPD.<\/p>\n<p>c) Make your application via the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/5q19bZpqBS67ojEh9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cancer \u2013 Health Concern Listing Application Form<\/a>, and then <strong>submit your proof of qualification and other evidence <\/strong>to <a href=\"mailto:info@bant.org.uk\">info@bant.org.uk<\/a>\u00a0with all documents in one zip file and email subject line noting \u2018Portfolio \u2013 Cancer\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a)<strong> 30 hours of CPD relevant to working with cancer clients (within the last 3 years)<\/strong><br \/>\n30 hours of cancer related CPD from other sources than option 1, supporting nutrition and lifestyle medicine practice with evidence of completion. This can be evidenced by using the BANT CPD log. Review a list of some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bant.org.uk\/bant-professional-practice-handbook\/specific-conditions\/#cancer\">currently available courses and information sources here<\/a>, you may have found other relevant courses yourself. Ensure that a minimum of 15 hours of total learning requirement leads to a completion certificate. This fulfils BANT\u2019s commitment to the Human Genetics Commission that it would set up an advanced practice register covering nutrigenetic counselling following the HGC\u2019s \u2018Genes Direct\u2019 reports in 2003 and 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Initial registration will be based on experience and training in the use of genetic profiles\/tests. The Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC) will be consulting on standards for training and an advanced practice framework.<\/p>\n<p>Entry onto the register is free of charge to all successful applicants. Entry onto the register is subject to you agreeing that your practice details are up to date and listed on the BANT practitioner pages and your listing will have a specific search field for Nutrigenetic Counsellors listed as NgC. You will also need to commit to updating your skills in nutrigenetic practice through targeted CPD to meet the published and updated competencies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You will need to be a Full Practising Member of BANT with up to date practice details in place.<\/li>\n<li>You will need to have insurance to practise and be fully covered for any Civil Liability arising out of the practice of Nutritional Therapy, including public liability, product liability, professional indemnity and libel or slander.<\/li>\n<li>You will need to complete the following 2 Learning Zone Modules &#8211; a) Nutrigenomics and b) Practice Governance.
