The ASA apply the UK Advertising Codes, which are written by the Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP).\u00a0There are two Codes; the CAP Code<\/a> which relates to all non-broadcast advertising which covers websites, newspapers, magazines, shop windows, billboards, bus stops etc, and the BCAP Code<\/a> which covers all broadcast advertising on TV, radio, cinema and on-line videos. The UK Advertising Codes<\/a> cover all broadcast media and non-broadcast media, including social media channels. ASA has a co-regulation arrangement with Ofcom and therefore ASA is responsible for administering and reinforcing the UK Advertising Codes; advertisers cannot opt out from following the Codes and complying with ASA rulings.<\/p>\n
