Functional Medicine, digestive health and emotional wellbeing.
Im a highly-qualified, functional medicine trained nutritional therapist specialising in the latest nutritional approaches to improving digestion. I will help guide you through the maze of different approaches and devise an easy-to-follow, personally-tailored nutritional programme to suit your pocket and lifestyle based on the latest scientific evidence.
One of the first things you should know about me is that I truly believe food is one of lifes soul pleasures! By working together, we can develop a plan that not only best suit your health needs, but also enables you to still enjoy food (though of course dietary restrictions may be necessary at times).
As well as having a busy private practice, I teach nutrition to a wide range of health professionals (including Bristol medical students) so work hard to keep up to date with current research in the area. I combine the latest scientific thinking with over 30 years of experience of working as a healthcare practitioner.
As poor digestion lies at the root of a myriad of health conditions, I specialise in offering support and giving advise about microbiome friendly/FODMAP diets etc. and psychological health issues. I also have considerable experience of supporting people with a wide variety of health conditions (see below).
My other specialist area of interest is mental health. I have worked with people with eating issues for 25 years initially in a treatment centre and now in my practice. I have regular referrals from a Bristol psychiatrist who specialises in this area of work. We are currently developing a course to support people with complementary and nutritional approaches to mental health - please see my website for further information.
