This webinar is based on Ray’s book “Depression: The Mind-Body Diet and Lifestyle Connection” with additional information about mitochondria from my book “Mitochondria in Health and Disease”.
As a book, the content in “Depression: The Mind-Body Diet and Lifestyle Connection” is more accessible to the lay reader than this presentation. This is so that the book can double up as resource for both patients and practitioners.
The webinar will cover:
- How the hippocampus, our inner seahorse, shrinks or loses volume during depression, stressful events and poor dietary intake
- The ability of the hippocampus, unlike other parts of our brain, to regrow new neurons in a process called neurogenesis
- How to encourage and improve neurogenesis, to help protect us from depression, and in later life, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
- The role of diet, relationships, environment, exercise and inspiration to help to heal our brain and hippocampus through neurogenesis.
