BANT VOLUNTEER MANAGER

The organisation

BANT is the professional body for Registered Nutritional Therapists. Its primary function is to assist its members in attaining the highest standards of integrity, knowledge, competence and professional practice in order to protect the client’s interest, nutritional therapy and the Registered Nutritional Therapists. Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance, disease prevention, and individual care. General Medical Council has acknowledged the safety and quality of care provided by BANT Registered Nutritional Therapists accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BANT was established in 1997 as a non-profit organisation. BANT has a governing council of nine people with experience in the scientific, nutrition practice and educational areas of nutrition science.

The role

The Volunteer Manager is responsible for developing and managing the volunteer community under the strategic guidance of the Volunteering Director.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing frameworks and plans to support volunteers to actively and effectively contribute through the regional meetings, as part of the committees, in strategic workstreams or as directors in Council, and to embed a culture of volunteering that is inspirational, fun, motivating and a learning experience.

Specifically, the Volunteer Manager is in control of recruiting and supporting BANT’s 140 (estimate) strong volunteer community.  The Volunteer Manager inducts and trains volunteers, creates training resources, and supports leads and managers in motivating and leading their volunteer teams. They are an active member of the Volunteer Steering Group, contributing to the future direction of BANT’s Volunteer community.

The main focus of this role is to provide BANT volunteers with the support and skills necessary for them to effectively support BANT workstreams, thereby delivering manpower resources to the workstreams enabling BANT to achieve its strategic objectives.

What you need

You will need to work from your own home unsupervised and be self-motivated. You will be confident in developing and communicating strategies and have the ability to implement structure to support strategic objectives.

You will be an experienced recruiter or have been involved in all aspects of recruiting teams within a previous role. You must have exceptional project management skills for this role and experience of motivating and leading employees or volunteers and ideally, supporting managers and leaders to support and motivate their own teams.

You will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a role where any of the following tasks are an essential part: recruitment, project management, team management, human resources, volunteer management, training.
